Rooted in Norfolk
“There are a thousand ways to kneel and kiss the ground,
A thousand ways to go home again.”
Rumi
Until settling in Norfolk, my lifestyle was somewhat nomadic. We moved homes regularly during childhood, which looking back, taught me all about transitions and impermanence from a young age. An awareness that would serve me abundantly later on in my yoga teaching life.
My younger adult years mirrored this nomadic pattern of travelling for career choices until… Norfolk happened.
Falling for the country and coastal landscapes – I began to put down roots, Norfolk is where I feel most at home and Yoga has taught me I will always have a home within.
We have organically grown a Yoga network in West Norfolk which holds a safe space for anyone who would like to explore a grounding practice that gently reminds you, to return home to yourself.
Earth & Ether gather weekly in person at the eco-friendly Wereham Village Hall and online from the comfort of our own homes.
We honour the Earth, the Ether, our boundaries and everything in between. You will always be warmly welcomed, exactly as you are. We are all connected by nature, whether we are practicing in person or online.
Growing your Yoga
Over the years, I’ve shaped my yoga teachings around seasonal and innate connections to the Earth’s cyclical consciousness.
By deepening our awareness of seasonal energies and shifts, we are plugging into the inherent wisdom of the Earth.
When you practice with Earth & Ether you will learn all about Yoga, Meditation and Breath Work with ayurvedic and seasonal threads woven throughout. Through practice you too can cultivate that same cyclical connection through your yoga and self-care rituals.
To grow your own yoga practice be gentle, respectful and kind to your body. The purpose of your practice should be to move with mindfulness and bring focus to your breath in each pose; this is the essence of yoga.
Yoga not only directs and channels prana, your life force energy, as you engage your physical body, it also nurtures the flow in the channels of your subtle body.
Yang / Vinyasa Yoga
Yang, or Vinyasa yoga, is a flowing, movement centric practice that follows an energising sequencing style to cultivate awareness, flexibility, strength and space within the body. There is a strong commitment to breath-led movement at a pace that allows for mindful embodiment of the poses and transitional shapes.
A Vinyasa yoga practice takes into consideration that we are all unique and will express each posture and transition in a way that is authentic to our individual anatomy and physiology.
As a powerful form of mind-body medicine, yoga approaches health holistically, recognising that physical ailments also have emotional and spiritual components. At its heart, yoga is a comprehensive system for self-development, healing and transformation.
Yin Yoga
Yin Yoga is a form of yoga that incorporates longer-held passive postures to further nourish the body by stimulating chi/energy flow to joints and connective tissue.
Earth & Ether interweave yin to balance out the stronger yang postures so that each class promotes a smooth flow of energy in the subtle body, creating harmony and alleviating blockages or stagnated energy.
This style of yoga practice is transformative in creating balance in our emotional, psychological and physical realms.
Yoga is a powerful medicine, and is most potent when taken regularly, over time. Establishing a regular yoga practice will help you find the healthy alignment of your body, the peaceful potential of your mind, and the joyous nature of your spirit. Breath by breath, moment by moment, you can move with compassion and diligence in the direction of sustainable health.
